Raymond Harrod is a 2004 graduate of Surrattsville High School and a 2008 graduate of Capitol College (now Capitol Technology University) where he studied Management of Information Technology. While in college, Raymond spent three years as a student worker in the Office of Financial Aid, where he assisted students and parents with the financial aid process and collected financial aid verification documents needed to process federal, state, and institutional financial aid awards.
In 2006, Raymond began working with First Generation College Bound as a student worker and later served as a college access advisor and office administrator. He currently serves as the organization’s program manager overseeing the organization’s four programs. While working with First Generation College Bound, Raymond has been instrumental in the planning process and implementation of partnerships, including First Generation’s partnership with the University System of Maryland, the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Prince George’s County Public School System. He also has helped to provide resources to First Generation College Bound students by creating great working relationships with area colleges and universities.
Raymond has been recognized for outstanding service to the GEAR UP program at Central High School and has been recognized for attendance and participation at professional development and counselor events at local colleges and universities. His professional memberships include the National College Access Network (NCAN) and the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). He enjoys assisting students with the college bound process, but has a passion for the financial aid component and has conducted financial aid presentations and FAFSA help sessions across Prince George’s County.
